MAX-Chloro* Chlorohexidine Acetate BP 0.5% Sterile Gauze Dressing ("SGD")

This product is NOT being offered for sale to end users/patients in any country. It is being offered to companies interested in carrying the product in their respective portfolios and markets. It is not offered in markets where enforceable patents exist. It is not offered in markets where enforceable patents exist.

Product Description:

MAX-Chloro* SGD is manufactured in a fully GMP production facility and is supported by full quality documentation.

MAX-Chloro* SGD consists of a cotton leno-weave gauze, impregnated with white Soft Paraffin BP, containing 0.5% w/w micronised Chlorhexidine Acetate BP.

Chlorhexidine is an antimicrobial agent that is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria but inactive against spores, fungi and viruses; it is more effective against Gram-positive than Gram-negative organisms, and some species of Pseudomonas and Proteus are of limited sensitivity.

INDICATIONS

MAX-Chloro* SGD is used as a wound dressing for preventing excessive wound dryness and the prevention of infection in minor skin loss injuries and ulcerative wounds. It is not the product of choice for the treatment of existing wound infections as the amount of chlorhexidine that is released from the dressing is limited. However, MAX-Chloro* SGD may be used as an adjunct to systemic antibiotic therapy where appropriate.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

MAX-Chloro* SGD is contra-indicated in patients who are known to be hypersensitive to chlorhexidine.

METHODS OF USE

Prior to the application of the dressing, the wound should be cleansed with a sterile solution of normal saline. A single layer of MAX-Chloro* SGD is then applied and covered with an absorbent pad, held in place with tape or a bandage, as appropriate.

FREQUENCY OF CHANGE

The frequency of dressing changes will depend entirely upon the nature of the wound, but wounds considered at risk of infection should be dressed daily.

WARNINGS

Keep away from children.

PRESENTATION

Each MAX-Chloro*SGD is presented sterile and individually wrapped in an aluminium peel pouch.

STORAGE

MAX-Chloro* SGD should be stored in a cool place below 25°C.
